EFL hits record 223,000 customers as energy demand soars in 2024

Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) has reported a record-breaking customer base in 2024, reflecting its growing influence in meeting Fiji’s energy needs.

Its 2024 annual report reveals the company served a total of 223,539 customers, comprising 57,146 prepay customers and 166,393 post-pay customers, up from 55,032 prepay and 164,821 post-pay customers in 2023.

A detailed breakdown of EFL’s 2024 customer base highlights its broad reach across sectors, including 108 large-scale industrial customers,  21,647 commercial customers and 201,784 domestic customers.

 The growth in customer numbers aligns with a significant 8.86% increase in national energy demand, rising from 1,000.4 million units in 2023 to 1,089 million units in 2024, said EFL,

“This surge reflects Fiji’s expanding energy needs, driven by economic growth and increased reliance on electricity across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.”

“EFL’s ability to meet this demand while maintaining service reliability highlights its critical role in supporting the nation’s development.”
