Education Ministry welcomes Government’s back-to-school initiative

The Ministry of Education has welcomed the $200 a child back-to-school initiative that was announced by the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka today.

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro thanked Mr Rabuka and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad for making this assistance available to those that needed it the most.

“We can only urge parents and guardians to access this assistance so they can be assisted in this back to school financial assistance,” Mr Radrodro said.

Meanwhile, Professor Prasad said they were looking at some 220,000 students to be assisted through this initiative.

The $200 a child back-to-school initiative is only eligible for families with a combined income of $50,000 or below.

The application for this initiative will open on January 11 and close on January 20, 2023.
