Minister for Education Premila Kumar has welcomed Year 8 and 13 students back to classes.

Ms Kumar said it was a very critical time for Years 12 and 13 children because they would be sitting for their exams.

She said for Years 8 to 11, this term was the final term for the 2021 academic year.

“It is vital that students complete their work before they start the new academic year 2022 in April,” Mrs Kumar said in a Government statement today.

“We all have been going through trying times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The different variants of the virus have exposed us all with challenges that we had never faced before.

“Despite that, we have endured and showed resilience by closely following the frequent and timely advisories from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and our partners WHO and UNICEF.”

Mrs Kumar encouraged all the Year 12 and 13 students to do the examination because their future higher education goals were dependent on it.
