The full day pre-primary education program for early childhood education, implemented last week across all 875 Ministry of Education registered pre-primary centres, or kindergartens, is the outcome of a collaboration with UNICEF.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro told Parliament yesterday that a sub-sector analysis was done, which guided the changes captured in the pre-primary education policy, which was launched in April this year.
On concerns about the full-day program, space constraints, the roll-out timeline, and the impact of extended hours on young children, he said the implementation was successfully carried out.
He said ECE teachers were now working and paid full eight-hour days.
Parents who wanted to take their children early could do so from 12 or 1pm at the earliest.
