The true essence of Easter celebration is all about resurrection and renewal, says Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

While delivering his Easter message, he said Easter was an important day in the Christian calendar as it marked the resurrection of Jesus Christ which has made possible for one to have eternal life.

“For many Christians, Easter is the joyful end of the Lenten season of fasting and penitence,” Mr Rabuka said.

“Easter brings hope, it brings new beginnings and eternal life. “Some may celebrate with a feast today, while others may not be so fortunate.

“Whatever situation we’re in, I pray that the true meaning of Easter will not be lost.”

PM Rabuka said we needed to stop judging ourselves on the basis of our past.

“When He was crucified on the cross, our sins were nailed on that cross with him. Our past was nailed to the cross, all this was made possible not by his death but by his resurrection.

“This Easter it is my prayer that we will stand with our children and receive God’s promise with His sacrificial death on the cross, we are made righteous in Christ Jesus.”
