Miriama Taletawa wins bronze in India Picture: Weightlifting Fiji

Team Fiji weightlifters Miriama Taletawa and Taniela Rainibogi achieved success at the Commonwealth Championships in Ahmedabad, India, by securing medals in their respective categories.

Taletawa earned a bronze medal in the women’s 86kg junior division after lifting 91kg in the snatch and 112kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 203kg.

Rainibogi claimed gold in the Men’s 110kg category with an impressive lift of 365kg, including 165kg in the snatch and 200kg in the clean and jerk.

Samoa’s Jack Opeloge won silver with a lift of 357kg, and Roberts-Young Jackson of Australia collected bronze with a lift of 356kg.

Meanwhile, Apakuki Tabuawaiwai delivered a stellar performance, achieving a personal best in the clean and jerk.

Tabuawaiwai, aged 23, successfully lifted 120kg on his final attempt, showcasing his determination and skill.

Although he narrowly missed his final snatch attempt at 90kg, he cleared lifts of 80kg and 85kg in the competition.
