Duo walk away $8000 richer

Natabua High School students Jalesi Mateboto, 17, and Akuila Moceidreke, 16, walked away with $8000 yesterday after they scooped the $5000 grand prize courtesy of Westpac and $3000 People’s Choice award courtesy of The Fiji Times in the Domo Vou Talei song contest.

The duo who go by the name SSN (Six, Seven, Nine), won with their original song Lewa which received a huge response from the crowd at the Woodstock Uprising Music Festival.

They said they were surprised at winning the two categories.

Peter Tuilaucala who goes by the name KingHitMiss scooped the Best Performance Award courtesy of Kaila! Australian Deputy High Commissioner Clair McNamara said they were proud to have played a part in nurturing Fiji’s future singing talent.

The Fiji Times was a sponsor of the event, along with Westpac, Communications Fiji Ltd, Knox Entertainment and Kaila!
