MISS Home and Living Anne Dunn was crowned the 2016 Vodafone Hibiscus Queen during last night’s ceremony at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

The 24-year-old also took home the Best Research Topic award and will represent Suva in a contest later this year to determine the Miss Fiji candidate to the South Pacific Pageant.

Ms Dunn said the week-long festival was a lifetime opportunity that enabled her to advocate on gender equality and said she was ready to begin her reign as the representative of Fiji’s Capital City.

“I think I would make a great ambassador for Suva which is a place that incorporates tradition, culture and globalisation,” Ms Dunn said.

“I know that Fiji is the hub of the South Pacific and to be a trendsetter for Fiji and the South Pacific would be a challenge I would take on.

“My issue was gender equality and as I continue as reigning Miss Hibiscus and competing in other pageants, I would love to keep emphasising the issue.”

The Hibiscus Queen also acknowledged the 12 other Queen contestants and her family, friends, sponsor and supporters for being part of her journey towards receiving the crown.

Miss Connect Adi Veti Vukalokalo was the first runner-up, second runner-up was Miss Apco Sheenal Swastika and third runner-up was Miss Lunchbox Unise Radinitoga.

Miss FNU Rejieli Vueti was named Miss Charity after raising $41, 216.
