PREPARATIONS have started for the Northern Duavata Crime Prevention Carnival to be held next month in Labasa.
The journey of preparation has started this week with a visit to the police headquarters where Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Isikeli Vuniwaqa was briefed about the plans of the committee.
Carnival committee chairman Satish Kumar assured police this year’s carnival would definitely be bigger and better.
“We will have 22 contestants and it is the first time for us to go big on the number of contestants and it is simply because we want to spread the message of fighting crime,” he said.
“We all know that the past carnivals have been a success with a lot of people coming in including the villagers from the three provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata.
“And the support from chiefs has been an added bonus to our carnival so we would like to thank them for all their contribution over the past years.”
The carnival will be held from June 20 to 27.
