TotalEnergies Fiji inaugurated its Dual Pipeline Project in Suva this week, enabling the company to expand its capacity to better serve its marine customers.
The 1.3 kilometre dual fuel pipelines connect the TotalEnergies Walu Bay terminal to the Kings Wharf South and North fuel discharge and bunker points.
The project was jointly launched by Ministry of Economy permanent secretary Shiri Gounder and vice president Oceania and Southeast Asia, TotalEnergies Marketing and Services Aimeric Ramadier, at TotalEnergies Fiji’s head office and terminal in Walu Bay, Suva.
“Energy access is about improving and transforming the lives of our people.
“The Fijian Government has always supported the energy sector given its linkages to development and our continuous pursuit of improving overall living standards in Fiji. The focus has always been on energy access, energy efficiency, energy sustainability and energy security and this project clearly supports these four important pillars,” said Mr Gounder.
Mr Ramadier said: “These pipelines will improve Fiji’s supply chain by ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable fuel distribution to customers.”
The construction of the pipelines is part of TotalEnergies Fiji’s upgrading programme which includes fuel terminals and refuelling facilities at its retail and B2B networks.
The pipelines were commissioned upon the receipt of 5000 metric tonnes of fuel from medium range tanker “HSL ANNA” on the November 21 this year.
