Authorities in Samoa have intercepted prohibited drugs and paraphernalia from a passenger arriving on a Fiji Airways flight at Faleolo International Airport.
In a joint statement, the Samoa Ministry of Customs and Revenue and Samoa Police confirmed that 90 grams of marijuana and drug-related items were seized during routine border clearance today.
Customs officers intercepted a 43-year-old male passenger who had travelled on a Fiji Airways service.
The passenger, a Samoan national holding a New Zealand passport and currently residing in Australia, was allegedly found with six bottles containing marijuana, along with a cannabis grinder and rolling papers.
Officials said the items were detected during standard screening and examination by frontline Customs officers.
The drugs and paraphernalia were seized under the Customs Act and Narcotics Act.
Samoa Customs commended officers for their vigilance, saying the seizure highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen border security and prevent the movement of illicit drugs through international travel routes.
The passenger remains in Police custody while investigations continue.
