Drudru joins Suva team

FORMER Suva striker Samuela Drudru wants to score more goals for his old team during the 2016 Oceania Football Confederation Champions League.

The Nadarivatu lad had his first training run with the Suva team at the Fiji Football Association headquarters in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

Drudru joined Suva from Nadi this week.

He said he was happy to be back with this team which had given him a lot.

“I am really happy and excited to be part of Suva once again,” he said.

“Suva gave me a good offer and that is why I decided to come. The last time when I was part of the team was two and half years ago.”

Drudru made his debut in the local football scene with Nadroga before deciding to change camp for Suva where he scored seven goals a national football league match against Tavua.

While he opted not to divulge more on the contract he was offered he said he would give his best for the men in white.

“I got a very good offer from Suva and they were very good to me and I want to help the team win more titles,” he added.

“I want the fans to keep supporting me.

“For me I don’t think it will be hard to get into the team as I have played before and coach Gurjit Singh had helped me a lot to improve on my game.”

Suva vice-president Ritesh Pratap said with Drudru’s inclusion the team would be able to improve in their goal scoring department.

“We lacked a finisher badly but it is no more with Drudru coming over,” he said.

“Ever since he left Suva we always wanted him to come back and it has come true for Suva.

“I won’t be able to reveal his contract which is confidential but I can say we offered him a good contract and he liked it.”

Suva will play in the OCL next month in New Zealand.
