THE McDonald’s Fijian Drua Women are preparing for another physical contest as they host the Brumbies in Round 3 of the Super Rugby Women’s competition at 4R Stadium in Ba tomorrow at 2pm.
Fresh from an inspiring first home victory last weekend, head coach Mike Legge expects the visitors to test his side up front but says his players are ready for the challenge.
“We’re expecting a tough forward battle.
“It’s a similar message to what we had against the Force. We really need to front up in the collisions around the ruck, at set piece and even in our wider channels. That’s been a big focus for us this week,” Legge said.
Legge believes consistency across the full 80 minutes will be the key to securing back-to-back home wins.
“If we can be consistent with our work around the breakdown for the full 80 minutes, we believe we’ll get a positive result.”
The team’s morale has been lifted following last week’s memorable home win, with Legge describing the atmosphere in camp as positive and full of confidence.
“It was awesome. Everyone was excited and nervous before the game, so it was good to get that first home game out of the way.
“We’re expecting a great crowd in Ba. Our supporters are the greatest in the world, and they really got us through that second half last week. We expect the same support again this weekend,” he added.
Legge is urging fans to pack the stands at 4R Stadium and help create another electric atmosphere.
“They can expect plenty of excitement and high-intensity rugby.
“The crowd really lifted us in the second half last week and helped us play our style of rugby. We’re hoping for another big turnout in Ba.”
With confidence growing and home support behind them, the Drua Women will be aiming to continue their winning momentum against a determined Brumbies outfit tomorrow afternoon.
