SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua co-captain Temo Mayanavanua will miss tomorrow’s Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Hurricanes at Churchill Park after sustaining an injury last week against the Waratahs.
Head Coach Glen Jackson confirmed the news, saying, “It’s a massive loss for him and for us as well. He leads our team very well on the field, so missing him for six weeks at this stage is a big blow.”
The Drua will now look to adjust their lineup ahead of the important home clash against the Hurricanes.
“It’s a great game, you know the Hurricanes have been doing a lot of work in their very flash environment around heat work and you know we’ve always had pretty good games against the Hurricanes so it’s a good team we have here and we’re looking forward to obviously a good crowd there,” Jackson added.
Meanwhile, Jackson also said the Drua will miss the services of Elia Canakaivata and Poni Loganimasi, who have signed two-year deals with Sale Sharks starting from the 2026/27 season.
“Elia has been unbelievable. His commitment, especially at his age, has been impressive. Of course, losing quality players like this is not ideal. I know Sale Sharks are a good team, and he’ll be great over there,” Jackson said.
