Swire Shipping Fijian Drua players Mesulame Dolokoto and Isoa Tuwai are set to showcase their skills for FMF Suva in a crucial doubleheader match against Naitasiri at Naluwai in round 8 of the Skipper Cup and the challenge for the Farebrother Trophy today.
Joining them on the field are three Fiji 7s players, Terio Tamani, Sakiusa Siqila, and Tira Wilagi, adding depth to the team and setting the stage for an exciting showdown.
Head coach Solo Nute emphasised the intensity of the team’s training sessions in preparation for this important match.
With Naitasiri currently in second place on the points table, Nute viewed this as a must-win game for Suva.
“As we also draw closer to the end of the competition, we can see that all teams are vying for quarter-final position, and for us Naitasiri is in the second place on the points table, and this is a do or die match for us,” said Nute.
“It’s a double header we will be focusing on our strength, and for us to move forward, we must minimise our mistakes, and we probably will do well in the game.”
For Farebrother holders, Naitasiri, this match will be particularly tough given that the two teams are familiar with each other on and off the field.
“We know each other very well. Suva won the Skipper Cup for a number of years and are still unbeaten this season so they got the upper hand on us in that aspect. It will be an uphill battle for us,” Naitasiri Rugby Union coaching director Dr Ilaitia Tuisese said.
The presence of Fijian Drua and Fiji 7s players has further boosted the squad, with everyone eager to have a positive impact on the game.
The match is scheduled for 3pm.
