Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has confirmed they will be keeping a close eye on the upcoming Skipper Cup competition, as they look to strengthen their squad.

“With the Skipper Cup starting soon, we’ll be watching closely.

“Every competition that features Fijian-qualified players whether it’s the Skipper Cup, overseas leagues, Deans, or even Sevens we look at all of them. We want the right people to play for the Drua, and that includes players who genuinely want to be here,” Jackson said.

Jackson said the Drua management is aware of player movements and departures and are open to recruiting talent from across the board.

“We’ve selected players from a wide range of competitions before, and Skipper Cup is no different. We’ll be keeping a close eye on every team as the competition kicks off in August,” he added.

The Fiji Rugby Union decided that this season all the provincial competitions, including the Skipper Cup, Marama Cup, Vodafone Vanua Cup, and Royal Tea Ranadi Cup, will commence from August 2 to November 1, 2025.

This was done to avoid clashes with other major competitions such as the Super Rugby Pacific in the first quarter of the year.

This was also because of the lack of venues as most rugby clubs do not have their own grounds.
