SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua co-captain Frank Lomani says there is everything to play for as they prepare to face the Highlanders in their Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific Round 12 clash at 4R Stadium in Ba today.
With finals hopes on the line, Lomani stressed the importance of securing maximum points in front of their home fans.
“Going back to play in Ba, there’s a lot to play for. We want to make it to the final.
“Saturday, we need to win with a bonus point and make the cut.”
The clash also sets up exciting match-ups against fellow Fijians in the Highlanders squad, including captain Timoci Tavatavanawai and winger Jona Nareki.
“We have a lot of respect for Jim, he is a good player. We’re all looking forward to playing against him, it will be exciting,” Lomani said.
He added the Drua were aware of the threats posed by the visitors.
“They bring a lot of experience and they kick a lot, so we are really preparing for that.”
Following last week’s loss to the Chiefs, Lomani said discipline and execution would be key.
“We cannot afford to make mistakes, mistakes that will cost us. We can only control what we can.”
Despite some frustrations in their previous outing, the focus remains on delivering a strong performance at home.
The match will also mark a special milestone for number eight Elia Canakaivata, who is set to play his 50th game for the club.
Lomani acknowledged the unwavering support of the Drua faithful.
“We are really grateful to have the best fans in the world, always having our backs as family.”
With a packed Govind Park expected, the Drua will be banking on home support to lift them in what shapes as a must-win encounter.
