RESILIENCE in all forms will power the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua forward this week, as they regroup following their 24-22 victory over the Western Force at Churchill Park in Lautoka last Saturday.
It’s the same value that anchored them through last week when Tropical Cyclone Vaianu affected the Western Division and forced them to prepare for the match either from home or wherever possible.
And as it played a major part in their victory over the Force in their final Churchill Park home match this season, head coach Glen Jackson and current captain Isoa Nasilasila have expressed ways in which they could venture much stronger to Canberra, Australia this week.
Jackson reflected on how Govind Park’s sold-out crowd for their first meeting this season in March as something he wished could be replicated in Canberra.
“The crowd; that would be quite good,” Jackson told reporters on Saturday.
“Imagine if we took that crowd to Canberra. They (Fijian Drua) don’t have anyone to go and watch them (there) so it would be awesome to fill the stadium with the Ba supporters that we had.”
And for captain Isoa Nasilasila, he affirmed the technical side of their preparation as they head back into camp from today to start putting in the hard yards for this Friday’s clash.
“I think one thing is just high physicality, making sure we’re working together as a unit, the backs, forwards and just building on them,” Nasilasila said.
The Drua meet the Brumbies at the GIO Stadium in Canberra, as the home side comes off victorious after a 14-10 win over the Highlanders.
The Stephen Larkham-coached side sits fourth on the points standings with 24 points while the Drua are ninth with 12 points.
The match kicks off this Friday at 9.30pm.
