Drua Development dominate Lautoka

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Development side delivered a dominant performance to thrash Lautoka 68-12 at Churchill Park yesterday.

The Drua controlled all aspects of the game, showing class in attack and defence from start to finish.

Drua struck early, with Janero Wakehem crossing for the opening try, which was converted by Kemu Valetini.

Sailosi Vukalokalo added the second, before Iosefo Namoce powered over for the third, with Valetini maintaining a perfect record from the tee to give Drua a 21-0 lead.

The forwards continued to lay a strong platform, allowing Tomasi Vunibola to crash over for the fourth try, again converted by Valetini.

Lautoka responded late in the first half through Usaia Rube. Mesake Beranaliva missed the conversion. Ron Kurulase added another just before the break, with Jone Sovasova converting to close the gap.

Drua Development led 28-12 at halftime.

The second half was all Drua.

Namoce grabbed his second try after pouncing on a loose ball, with Bogi Kikau converting to extend the lead to 35-12.

Kikau then added his name to the scoresheet with Drua’s sixth try, converted by Meli Dreu.

Maleli Nauvasi crossed for the seventh, before Maika Tuitubou powered over for the eighth, with Dreu adding the extras to stretch the lead further.

Manasa Mataele capped off the dominant performance with two late tries, with Dreu converting both to seal a comprehensive 68-12 victory.
