SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua captain Tevita Ikanivere says the team is focused on ending the season on a high as they prepare to face the Western Force in their final home game of the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season at Churchill Park today.

Speaking ahead of the crucial clash, Ikanivere said the players have been working hard at training and are determined to put on a performance that will make their families and fans proud.

“We’ve prepared really well.

“Our focus is to finish the season strong — for our families, and for the fans who have backed us all year,” Ikanivere said.

Despite recent criticisms and negative comments on social media about the team’s performance this season, the hooker says the mood in camp remains positive.

“We can’t control what people say online. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that’s their life. But this is our life,” he said.

“We come here to train, to work. This is our job, and we try to do it well. Hopefully we can still put smiles on people’s faces.”

Looking ahead to today’s clash, Ikanivere acknowledged the challenge the Force will bring, especially with their own season on the line.

“It’s going to be a tough match,” he admitted.

“We know how important this game is for them. But it means a lot for us too, emotionally and professionally.”

Today’s fixture will also be emotional for a number of Drua players, with several set to leave the franchise at the end of the season.

“This game will be special, especially for the boys who are moving on. It’s their chance to finish well in front of our home crowd,” Ikanivere said.

While Ikanivere himself is nearing the end of his current contract with the Fijian Drua, he confirmed that nothing has been finalised regarding his future.

“I’m close to the end of my contract, but nothing is concrete yet about leaving,” he said.

“Right now, my focus is on the job in front of me.”
