FIJI 7s coach Gareth Baber has rated Paula Dranisinukula as a gruelling leader who embodies the qualities needed in a captain.

“Paula Dranisinukula is gruelling as a leader every day,” Baber said.

“He believes in everybody but himself.”

Baber said when it came to him choosing a leader for his team, he looked at those that upheld the team values of teamwork, effort and humility.

“We look for an individual who has the capability of withstanding pressure and displays values in practice.

“Paula coming from a military background is always the first in and the last out.

“He is always dressed properly, is always on time and understands other’s points of view.

“He makes the ultimate sacrifice on the field time and time again.”

Baber said Jerry Tuwai and Kalione Nasoko were also very capable leaders and built of the same stock.

“And these boys that have been captain of Fiji are really under the same sort of process that they have operated under and it is certainly what we derive as a team effort.”

The army officer from Navuniivi Village in Ra is expected to lead the charge again for Fiji at the 2019/2020 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
