Kinisiana Dramaibeqa has set out from Waidina Secondary School with a singular goal in mind — do her best and win!
The 15-year-old athlete is one of the many young talents making their mark at the Triple N Zone athletics competition at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, which ends today.
Her events during the two-day meet are the 4x400m relay, 800m and 3000m, of which the latter two will have their final events this morning.
For the Vanuakula, Naitasiri athlete who is also in year 10, she has her eyes set on the top prize – winning gold.
“I have come here to try and win the gold medal so that I could return to the school with it,” Dramaibeqa stated.
Along with clinching the gold medal, she also plans to qualify for the Fiji Finals at the end of this month.
With this in mind, she shared the key elements vital to her ensuring she would have a chance of qualifying for it.
“It has compelled me to strengthen my level of training and even my companions have urged me to do the same,” she shared.
“They have urged me to do so in ensuring I have a chance of coming first and winning gold and taking it back (to Waidina).”
Fierce and determined to achieve what she and her teammates set out to do, she also acknowledged the backing of the school’s administrators and their families.
“Our principal had wished us well before we left as well as our parents who blessed us with their words of support as we came down to take part in the Triple N Zone,” she said.
