People can use Janola to disinfect their homes and effectively remove the COVID-19 virus, says Colonial War Memorial Hospital head of gynaecology Dr Moape Bavou.

Responding to questions during the Bua Urban Youth network virtual discussion yesterday, he said the ministry used sodium hypochlorite which was an active ingredient of Janola.

Dr Bavou said people could use Janola and add fragrance with Fabuloso to disinfect and mop their homes or wipe surfaces with it.

He said recently, Health Ministry personnel had to disinfect a contaminated part of the their headquarters after an infection.

They had used a disinfectant and unsuccessfully repeated the process three times after swabs continued to detect the virus in the office.

Dr Bavou said the team later managed to effectively disinfect the area with sodium hypochlorite – the active ingredient in Janola.

He advised people not to waste their money buying unnecessary expensive disinfectants to decontaminate their homes.
