The Office of Director of Public Prosecutions is lobbying for an increase in its  budget allocation.

In Parliament, Attorney-General Siromi Turaga said the ODPP needed the increase to fund the establishment of specialised units.

“They’re advocating for a $2million boost in the 2025 budget to finance the establishment of new specialised units, additional staff positions and enhanced training programs,” said Mr Turaga, adding that last year’s allocation of $6.9m  was put to good use.

“For office renovations and strategic planning, the neglected conditions in divisional offices have been addressed.”

He said a comprehensive strategic plan would be launched in June.
