After a significant ten-year break, Downtown FC from Nadroga gears up for its long-awaited return to the Cecil’s National Regional Club Championship (NCC) with a clear mission in mind — to secure their inaugural title win.
Club secretary Numal Krishna said the team was optimistic and determined as they prepared for today’s competition.
Numal said spirit was high in camp as the team was eager to clinch the NCC title.
He said the team’s preparation was based on players’ dedication as they tried to foster the team’s chemistry.
“We know it is not an easy task, but the morale is high in the team, and the boys are looking forward to winning the NCC title,” he said.
“It is the hard work of our president, executive members, players, and their families that has brought the club back to the championship. We are proud to represent Nadroga FC.”
Numal said under the guidance of coach Munen Krishna, the team boasted a blend of seasoned district representatives such as goalkeeper Sakeo Tagenaca, Samuela Sacere, Ravinesh Reddy, and
Abhishek Ram, who were poised to bring forth the experience and skill necessary for a successful tournament run.
Downtown FC kicks off its NCC campaign against Lautoka’s Rival FC at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori at 3pm today.
The NCC will witness eight teams from grassroots clubs in Fiji that will be competing for the coveted title.
Group A comprises of Downtown FC, Rivals FC, Buiduna FC, and Nakasi Police FC, and Group B will feature Flying Arrows, Blues FC, Friends United, and North Pole FC.
