Divavesi back for Nadera Panthers

FORMER Fiji Bati and Nadera Panthers skipper Iowane Divavesi will be back in the Panthers colours tomorrow for the new season of the Vodafone Cup competition.

Divavesi who has finished his club rugby overseas is expected to lead the Panthers alongside Asaeli Saravaki as the Panthers look to bring to Nadera the Vodafone Cup which has evaded them for some time now.

Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Dee Cees Nadera Panthers coach Vula Dakuitoga said now the boys had been given new sets of uniforms, the onus was on them to up the amp in their performance.

“25 years of existence, very colourful record in the past years, but that is the past and the challenge now is to bypass those; we have done our part now it is for them to do theirs,” Dakuitoga said.

He said they had won the Nasinu Zone pre-season competition and Divavesi was instrumental in that win.

“It is a fresh start for a new beginning and hopefully the boys can put into action what I have been teaching them on the field; definitely that is the challenge for them to up the standard of their game, we’re looking forward to the season.”

Yesterday at the Nadera grounds, the Panthers launched their new uniforms and also naming a new co-sponsor- Sportsworld.
