FIJI’S disciplined forces, gathered at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva on September 29, to mark St Michael’s Feast Day.
Hosted by the Fiji Police Force, the celebration brought together personnel from the Fiji Navy, Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Corrections Service.
Also known as Michaelmas, the feast honours Archangel Michael — regarded in Christian tradition as the leader of the heavenly armies and defender of the Church.
St Michael is celebrated as a symbol of courage and protection, and as the one who defeats Satan in the battle against evil.
St Michael is recognised as the patron saint of the disciplined forces.
