Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Vatimi Rayalu had heaped praise for a man who had lost both his legs in a workplace incident at the age of twenty-five and still earns a living today at the age of sixty.
Mr Rayalu said on his social media page, Peniasi Dobui “didn’t beg, didn’t blame the system.”
“Today, at 60, he is a farmer, fisherman and a carpenter. No legs but he is moving forward.”
“He turned a small dalo patch into a full one-acre farm. He grows watermelon, eggplants, tomatoes. He built a canteen. Bought a car. Not with handouts but with hard work.”
Mr Rayalu has urged others to learn from this.
“What is your excuse? Do not say there are no jobs. Do not say life is unfair. Life hit him harder than it ever hit you and he hit back.”
“It is Monday morning. What will you do today? Will you keep choosing laziness over legacy? Disability is not inability. But some of you are choosing uselessness.”
“You should be ashamed.”
