VODAFONE Fiji is positioning itself as the primary enabler for the tourism industry’s digital evolution, focusing on infrastructure that moves beyond simple connectivity to support complex digital ecosystems.Speaking at the Fiji Tourism Expo at the Sheraton Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Nadi on Friday, Vodafone Fiji Pte Limited head of Enterprise Development Varun Kumar said the company is working closely with development partners across the country.

Mr Kumar said connectivity plays a central role in the rollout of new market developments.

“Vodafone Fiji has been working closely with development partners within the tourism industry.

“If you look at the new developments that are happening across the country, connectivity remains a critical component because it is a stepping stone to other digital ecosystems,” he said.

The company is expanding its footprint into specialised guest services, targeting in-room entertainment and operational efficiency.

“We are also unlocking a lot more doors in terms of how we position our technology.

“If you look at in-room entertainment systems, this is where we strongly position ourselves either it be guest Wi-Fi systems, the sign-in process, contracts with their vendors or whichever stakeholders they are dealing with.

“If you go throughout the different booths, hardly people are using paper-based demonstrations. You see digital screens, you see e-books, you see TVs.

“They are promoting how best they can serve Fiji and how best they can promote Fiji as a tourism destination. So, that is something everyone’s here today for. That is the main objective. So, we as a technology partner are seeing how we can become the enabler to this initiative.”

Mr Kumar said the company’s involvement in shaping a national cybersecurity strategy is to safeguard the industry’s future.

Vodafone Fiji is actively collaborating on the development of cross-industry policies to strengthen security frameworks.

“Vodafone Fiji is proud to support these consultations, helping build a more cyber-resilient nation.”
