COMPOL Rusiate Tudravu speaking to the promoted constables last week – FIJI POLICE

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu urged 113 newly certified constables to “dig deep” and reassess their commitment to the badge, warning that passionless policing is at the heart of public dissatisfaction.

The officers from across the country successfully completed the Constable Qualifying Course (CQC).

“Many of you are still young, yet your attitude to policing is very poor, and this is reflective of the complaints against service,” Commissioner Tudravu said.

“If you have lost the passion for policing, I urge you to dig deep and take an honest look at yourself and answer whether this is the job for you.”

The Commissioner acknowledged that restoring public confidence in law enforcement remains a top priority.

“Attitudes need to change if the certificates you have attained are to have any real impact and influence in your work.”

The CQC is designed to refine skills and reinforce ethical standards, but Mr Tudravu made it clear that no amount of training can compensate for a lack of heart.

“Every day when you come to work, ask yourself, what can I do today to restore public trust in the uniform I wear?”
