Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says last week’s State of the Economy Dialogue has provided Government with valuable feedback to help shape the 2026-2027 National Budget.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Rabuka said the two-day dialogue gave Government an opportunity to consider concerns raised by stakeholders and reassess some of its initial budget plans.
“It has given us a good opportunity to revise what we had in mind and also take on board some of the concerns raised to plan it better,” Mr Rabuka said.
“So that when it’s presented, the people know why and where they will be going towards.”
Held at the Grand Pacific Hotel last week, the dialogue brought together political leaders, policymakers, private sector representatives, civil society organisations, academics and development partners to discuss Fiji’s macroeconomic framework and fiscal sustainability.
Participants at last week’s dialogue called for policies that promote economic growth while addressing concerns over public debt, fiscal sustainability and the rising cost of living.
The 2026-2027 National Budget is expected to be tabled next week Friday.
