DOMINANCE was in the air when the Fijian Drua Development squad won 45-14 over the Australian Fiji Rugby under-20 team at Churchill Park in Lautoka last Saturday.

The clash was the curtain raiser for the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific round one match between the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika.

Clad in their away game jerseys, the Drua put through a concerted campaign to start strong with Joji Nasova crossing the try-line.

The match was divided in quarters, with 20 minutes of play each.

In the first quarter, the Drua led 14-7.

At half-time, their lead extended by another seven points with the visitors also doing the same as points now stood at 21-14.

In the third quarter, the Drua added another 19 points which extended in the fourth quarter to its final score.

The development team was made up of its 12 players and had the help of its senior players from the main Swire Shipping-sponsored squad.

It was captained by development player Harold Rounds, assisted by Swire Shipping Fijian Drua player Inia Tabuavou in his capacity as vice-captain.

It also included two Drua Academy players Daris Khan and Jeremaia Teka.

Senior players in the team besides Tabuavou included Philip Baselala, Vilive Miramira, Joji Nasova and Kavaia Tagivetaua.

Meanwhile the Fijian Drua were then defeated 26-40 by Moana Pasifika in the main match.
