AN economic development plan (EDP) is in the pipeline for Tavua Town.
Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar said the EDP would map out the town’s future projects that would lift the economic viability of Tavua.
He said one such project was the establishment of 100 residential lots.
According to the Tavua Town Council, an extension of the Tavua Municipal Market and a new bus stand was also part of the project.
Town council CEO Vikash Naidu said in less than three months, Tavua had been able to recover fully from Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
“We have big plans coming up for the town and we are looking forward to growing its economy,” he said.
“The first big project is the residential lots and with that comes the increase in our ratepayers.
