BRIAN John McKay graduated from the Fiji National University’s CISCO Certified Network yesterday after one and a half years of study.
McKay, originally from Vagadaci in Levuka and with maternal links to Naselai, Nuku, Tailevu, said the program had shaped his personal outlook and future goals.
Before joining FNU, he attended Gospel High School, where he reached year 12.
“The first time I took the course, it was hard,” he said.
“I couldn’t cram some things, and there was a lot going on, but I thank the Lord for helping me.”
Mr McKay dedicated his certificate to his parents and my grandmother, Lydia Yava.
“Sometimes I wanted to give up, but my parents kept urging me to stand on my own two feet and study hard,” he added.
McKay, an only child, advised students to stay true to themselves.
