PEOPLE in the north will get the chance to witness and be part of the 2025 Vodafone Sukuna Bowl with the football and rugby competitions set to be held at Subrail Park in Labasa on November 20-21.
Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga explained the reasons for moving the annual event to Labasa.
“The Fiji Police has been requested by the former president, Gone Turaga na Tui Macuata, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, if it could be taken to Labasa.
“We had taken the Sukuna Bowl to Nadi, and the Commissioner of Police has agreed on that and now it is time for the Northerners to enjoy what they usually see on TV. They also play a part in the Sukuna Bowl,” he said.
Lutunauga said taking the Sukuna Bowl to the north is the perfect opportunity for the Fiji Police Force to spread the message entwined with the theme of discipline, unity and service.
“We are taking it now to the north and we are using this platform to drive our message out to the community and that is to say no to drugs and to address all the critical issues that we have.”
The men’s soccer match is scheduled for November 20.
The day after, spectators will witness the toast of the Sukuna Bowl, beginning with the women’s rugby match at 11am followed by the main men’s match at 3pm.
The other competitions will be held in Suva from November 17-19.
