THE Nationwide Nadi Army 7s will debut on the international stage when they compete at the Borneo Sevens in Malaysia this weekend.
The side departed Fiji on Wednesday evening and is expected to arrive in Malaysia today ahead of the tournament.
Head coach Napolioni Naulia said preparations had been thorough following their recent outing at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s last month.
“After our Marist 7s campaign, we returned to camp and worked on the areas we needed to improve,” Naulia said.
He added the tour would be a special experience for the squad, with the majority travelling overseas for the first time.
“The boys are very excited because about 90 per cent of the team are travelling abroad for the first time,” he said.
Despite the inexperience at international level, Naulia is confident his players will rise to the occasion and showcase their talent.
“Our aim is to win the tournament and make it a memorable tour, especially since it is the first international outing for many of the boys,” he said.
Led by captain Inia Tawalo, Nationwide Nadi Army 7s team is drawn in Pool B alongside Uzbekistan 7s, Bunga Raya 7s Development and DKI Jakarta.
The team has also acknowledged the support of their sponsors; families and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces fraternity.
