Davina loves the adrenaline rush

Fiji Car Club 2015 Drag War open ladies category winner Davina Prasad’s infatuation with cars started at a very young age.

Not like other little girls, Ms Prasad liked the Knight Rider sequel and Transformer cartoons which had one thing in common — fast cars.

It was later when she turned 18 years old when her dad bought their first family car that Davina’s passion for cars developed further.

“Just before my 21st birthday I got my drivers licence hoping my dad would gift me a car but that didn’t happen until he felt I had mastered driving in 2004.

I finally got my first car which was a Nissan Sunny B15 from Satish Motormart,” she said.

“My current vehicle is a 2001 Subaru WRX Impreza bug-eye EJ20.

“I had a lot of work done to the engine which had an overheating issue and in the process had it STi tuned.

“Buying my first Subaru in 2007 really got me into Subaru cars and I have been a big Subaru car lover ever since.

“Currently the vehicle is undergoing body works for a better look for the anticipated car show due in August later this year.

“I had been to the drag race many times before, but never took part until the Drag War in September 2015. I didn’t go to race so I wasn’t prepared for the race.

“At the race the Fiji Car Club officials were calling out for more lady drivers to participate and so my partner Ronald Chand pushed me to take his car a Caldina GTT reg # FF913 (now sold) on the track.

“I would brag that for a first-timer it was a race worth watching, driving was cool, car was awesome, pit crew and the support from Ronald was good.

“It was one of my greatest driving moments ever.”

She said driving at the drag war event felt so good especially with the adrenaline rush and no radar or speed camera to slow her down.

“I am not a competitive type and my interest in cars and love for Subaru is my hobby or happiness. Win or lose I just love driving my Subaru,” she said.

“We can’t pull stunts like we see in the movies, but if you are driving and looking for a hobby then consider partaking at car shows or race for the fun of it.”
