Fiji have topped Group A of the OFC Under-16 Men’s Championship 2025 after defeating Papua New Guinea 2-0 in Honiara, Solomon Islands yesterday.
Skipper Maikah Dau once again proved the difference, scoring both goals to lead the Junior Bula Boys into the semi-finals unbeaten.
Dau opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a stunning free kick, curling the ball past the PNG wall and into the bottom corner.
He later sealed victory from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute after substitute Zafir Ali was fouled in the box.
Fiji’s defence also stood tall, repelling several PNG attacks to preserve a clean sheet.
The result confirms Fiji’s place in Wednesday’s semi-final against the Group B runners-up.
Fiji likely to face New Caledonia or New Zealand in the semi-finals.
