NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD Pauliasi Daucakacaka aims for a golden finish on his senior year at Nasinu Secondary School.
The Year-13 Pure Arts student was among the 700 athletes that competed at the school’s inter-house at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
He competed in the 100m sprint, triple jump and long jump.
In the long jump event, Daucakacaka jumped 5.91m and hopes it would be enough to take him through to the zone competition.
“I really want to enjoy my last year of high school and leave on a successful note in athletics.
“My ultimate goal is to make my parents proud. They are my anchor in everything I do whether it be in academic or sports,” he said.
Daucakacaka is no stranger to the Fiji Finals having competed in the past two years but for Lelean Memorial School.
At LMS, he took part in the 800m race.
Now in a new school, Daucakacaka hopes to leave a lasting legacy and make his mark in Fiji’s biggest, most anticipated secondary schools athletics meet.
