The Sugar Industry Tribunal has announced the expected termination dates for the 2025 crushing season at the Lautoka and Labasa sugar mills, following advice from the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC).
In a statement, Tribunal Registrar Timothy Brown said the FSC, in separate letters to the Tribunal, had provided indicative dates in line with Regulation 4.5(c)(ii) of the Master Award.
For Lautoka Mill, the FSC advised that the likely date to terminate crushing is 1 January 2026, while for Labasa Mill, the Corporation advised that the expected end of crush is 24 November 2025.
“The Tribunal consulted the Sugar Cane Growers Council regarding the advice received from the Fiji Sugar Corporation,” Mr Brown said.
“Assuming normal mill performance, these dates are the expected termination dates for the 2025 season.”
He added that the Tribunal would “continue to monitor harvesting and crushing progress before finalising the termination dates.”
“The final order to terminate crushing for each mill will be issued seven days before the end of crush, following consultations with the Corporation and the Council,” Mr Brown said.
