The COVID-19 pandemic allowed the Datec Fiji team to challenge themselves and to expand their creativity and in turn required them to be more innovative in how they work.

Datec Fiji CEO Satyen Singh highlighted this at the opening of the first-ever Datec Fiji Tech Summit that took place at InterContinental Resort in Natadola on Thursday.

He said they needed to work smarter and faster, becoming more accessible to each other despite being miles apart.

“And I believe that for many, we achieved just that.  The challenges of COVID did not deter us from staying connected,” Mr Singh said.

He said Fiji and South Pacific is witnessing increase in adoption of software-defined IT infrastructure, application eco-system hybrid work and cyber-security acceleration.

According to Mr Singh, the world was moving into an era of ubiquitous computing, ambient intelligence and “will experience more digitalisation over the next 10 years then past 40″.

“Our customers are in different stages of digital transformation adoption and collectively we need to accelerate the transformation to foster innovation and continuous growth.”

Mr Singh said the Datec team had been working on preparing for the summit for more than two years, and to see the fruit of that labour was not only one of relief but also one of admiration for the commitment by the entire team.

“We know that technology continues to be the primary catalyst for change in the world and, therefore, we wanted to bring the technology players who are making innovation happen closer to our clients.”
