VODAFONE network users will now be paying almost 95 per cent less on their roaming rates following a decision by the mobile service provider to reduce its outbound data roaming charges.
The reduction in Vodafone’s data roaming charges comes into effect immediately.
Vodafone’s chief commercial officer Ronald Prasad said the announcement was made after successful negotiations between Vodafone Fiji and data roaming partners overseas.
“Vodafone Fiji is therefore delighted to pass on the benefits of reduced data roaming charges to its customers with immediate effect.
“Access to affordable data for our regularly travelling customers particularly the business travellers who wish to remain connected through their Vodafone Fiji numbers while away abroad is a real need for this customer segment,” said Mr Prasad.
“We have been lobbying hard for reduced data roaming charges for our customers with partner networks overseas for some time and are naturally delighted with the breakthrough.”
According to Mr Prasad, the reduction had seen roaming rates to the two popular destination of Australia and New Zealand slashed to just $1 per MB.
He said customers could expect more good news as the company continued to liaise with more of its roaming partners to add more destinations to the reduced rate categories.
