“Dangerous weather conditions” yesterday affected Nadi airport operations

A decision to suspend ramp operations by Air Traffic Control on behalf of Fiji Airports Limited affected all airlines serving Nadi yesterday afternoon.

Fiji Airways has said it had to cancel its scheduled flight to Sydney last evening due to this.

The airline said Fiji Airways services to and from Nadi International Airport have been subject to serious delays to not arriving and departing flights due to the declaration of imminent dangerous weather conditions by the Fiji Meteorology service.

This resulted in the consequent direction to suspend ramp operations by Air Traffic Control on behalf of Fiji Airports Limited.

“Delays of up to 4 hours have been experienced, and with gates occupied by departing aircraft, a number of afternoon arrivals were unable to approach the terminal to allow guests to disembark,” said Fiji Airways.

“As a result, Fiji Airways was forced to cancel this evening’s FJ915 service to Sydney.”

Fiji Airways has scheduled a supplementary service to Sydney that will operate this morning.

Fiji Link had also cancelled two return Nadi-Suva trips.
