CUSTOMS organisations and private sector companies in the Western Division will experience an improved and efficient IT system, thanks to a new program launched by the the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority on Tuesday.
The automated system for Customs data or ASYCUDA World system replaces the previously used ASYCUDA ++ program.
FRCA head Jitoko Tikolevu said the program was designed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
“We have already launched this in Suva some months ago and this system is for our key stakeholders,” he said.
“This new system will make your business simpler in terms of accountability and lodging of various documentation processes.”
He said other agencies, apart from those in the private sector, that would benefit from ASYCUDA World included the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji and Ministry of Health.
“We must make sure the clearance of cargo and goods in the private sector is quick and efficient because the last thing we want is a continuous delay in processing.”
Mr Tikolevu also informed private sector organisations to seek assistance from FRCA if they had difficulties with the new system.
