Fijian Holdings Ltd subsidiary South Sea Cruises Group yesterday launched its latest addition to their replenished fleet, the MV Yasawa Princess II, an investment of about $F15 million.

The Blue Lagoon Cruises luxury vessel is set to elevate and strengthen Fiji’s tourism offering in the Yasawas with 22 air conditioned cabins, providing an all-inclusive experience for a capacity of 44 guests.

Amenities include a bar, dining room, sun deck, spa, Wi-Fi, snorkeling gear, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and a glass-bottom boat.

Fijian Holdings Ltd chairman Sakiusa Raivoce said out of their 13 subsidiaries under FHL, South Sea Cruises Group was doing exceptionally well.

“Because you know that tourist brings a lot of investment to Fiji in terms of economic growth, so we will support the tourism industry,” Mr Raivoce said

South Sea Cruises Group chief executive officer Brad Rutherford said the vessel was part of a $100m investment pipeline for a three-year program.

“Starting with Yasawa Flyer III launched early in the year and further includes resorts acquisitions, new resorts builds and new beach club,” Mr Rutherford said.

He added another fast ferry was expected to be arriving in Fiji in July later this year.

“These investments are all diverse, and all targeted at different sectors of the market.

“And all delivered to the highest global standards not only further proves South Sea Cruises position as a world class tour operator but someone which is critical to the success of Fiji’s tourism industry.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka said the introduction of the MV Yasawa Princess II marked an important step forward for Fiji’s tourism industry.

“Blue Lagoon Cruises delivers connection. Visitors do not just travel through Fiji; they experience our way of life,” Mr Gavoka said.

“They engage with our people, our culture, and our environment in a way that is personal and genuine.

” In today’s competitive global market, that authenticity is our greatest advantage.”

Mr Gavoka said as a proudly Fiji-owned business, South Sea Cruises Group’s legacy reflected the direction of the Coalition Government.

“We are committed to strengthening local ownership, supporting Fijian enterprise, and ensuring our people are at the centre of economic growth.

“This is how we build confidence, capability, and leadership within our own economy.”

Local sailings for the MV Yasawa Princess II will begin next month, followed by its first international voyage on April 27.
