This is not the time for politicking.
Member of Parliament Professor Biman Prasad made the remark in response to negative criticisms on the announcement of a 20 per cent pay cut for government ministers.
Speaking to this newspaper in Lautoka yesterday, Prof Prasad said the fuel crisis was not manufactured by Government or some entity in the country.
“The Prime Minister (Sitiveni Rabuka) has done the right thing,” he said.
“And to his credit he has announced some important early relief measures, for the people and the country.”
He said the Opposition was too carried away and obsessed on getting political mileage by criticising relief measures announced by Government.
“They (Opposition) have to understand that this is a very serious crisis, we are talking about stock, and we are talking about price.
“And this is not the time for politicking; this is the time to come together as a country and support government initiatives that will help us in the long run. That is what we should be doing.”
