I write this letter in response to the above.
As a resident of Wailoloa in Nadi, I would like to ask the honourable Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho to re-qualify his statement; as the muggings and robberies are still very prevalent in our area.
In fact a close family member of mine was mugged on her way to work as recent as last Thursday, August 3 at 0630hrs.
These muggings and house robberies are still very prevalent and yet our complaints have fallen on nothing but deaf ears, plus these criminals are still running free to terrorise our neighbourhoods.
In fact I believe the general consensus from the people of Fiji about the Fiji police is; “Why bother making a report when they (police) do nothing about it — it’s just a waste of time!”
I believe Fiji is not as safe as the honourable commissioner says it to be.
I believe Fiji in fact has gone a long way backward when it comes to crimes. A lot of it has been swept under the proverbial carpet as a means to positive publicity.
Please Mr Commissioner, look at our plight and look at the hot spots in Fiji as you are being fed bogus statistics.
We are still being robbed and are still being attacked in our homes.
