CRICKET Fiji has taken a giant step in developing the game following the huge success of the Fiji under-19 side in the World Cup qualifiers.
Fiji U19 is the first national side from the country to qualify for the ICC U19 World Cup.
Development manager Saiasi Fuli said that they had introduced development programs to increase the knowledge of the game at grassroots level.
“We have divided the programs into seven zones around the country, Suva alone has 18 primary schools taking part in weekly competitions from week 10 to week 14 in under-10, 12 and 14 grades which is being held at Veiuto Primary grounds every Saturday,” Fuli said.
“The secondary school competition will start in the second term of the school calendar and will be held at Albert Park in Suva.”
The seven zones comprises Suva, Nasinu, Tailevu, Nadi, Navua, Labasa and Lautoka.
