COVID-19: Fiji reports 39 new cases since last update

Fiji’s Ministry of Health has recorded 39 new cases of COVID-19 since the last update was reported last week.

Ministry permanent secretary Dr James Fong said 22 of those new cases were recorded on October 30, eight new cases on October 31, and nine new cases in the last 24 hours ending at 8am today.

He said overall for this second wave, there had been 52,110 cases recorded, with 71 per cent of the cases from the Central Division, 28 per cent of the cases from the Western Division, and 1 per cent of the cases from the Eastern and Northern divisions.

Dr Fong said there was no COVID-19 deaths to report.

There have been 674 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji, with 672 of these deaths during the outbreak that started in April this year, he said.
