Court urges iTLTB to settle lease agreement with Grace Road

Grace Road Food Company Pte Limited has obtained an injunction against iTaukei Land Trust Board (iTLTB) which had issued a Stop-Order Notice to Grace Work at its Wainadoi farm.

In a court ruling on February 26, it is stated iTaukei Land Trust Board and Grace Road Food Company Pte Limited have been negotiating on the conversion of an agricultural lease of the Wainadoi farm to industrial lease.

Grace Road Food Company Pte Limited had accepted the terms and conditions from iTLTB on 24 February 2025.

However, on the same day, iTLTB withdrew its offer and maintained that its Stop Work Notice was effective at the Wainadoi farm.

“I accept that there is a serious question to be tried in respect to the conduct of the Defendant (iTLTB) in relation to the Stop Work Notice,” said Justice David Tuiqereqere.

“I note that the basis for the Defendant purporting on 24 February to withdraw its offer to the Plaintiff (Grace Road) is the fact of these proceedings.

“I find that to be of considerable concern. I would urge the Defendant (iTLTB) to reconsider its position, for the sake of the landowners, and conclude its negotiations with the Plaintiff.
